The RTJ Society Board selects David Leigh, as its third president, succeeding Jim Whittaker, who is retiring from that position.

David Leigh, RTJ Society Marketing Chairperson will become the Society’s third president since its inception in 2004. He is succeeding Jim Whittaker who is retiring as president. Jim will become President Emeritus, a role which serves as a non-voting advisor to the Board. 

Jim’s tenure as president was marked by rapid growth in the Society, now with 41 Member Clubs and a strong slate of Society events. In stepping down, Jim plans continued involvement in the Society while traveling and enjoying retirement.

“We owe a lot of gratitude to Jim and his wife Sue for all they have done for the Society.“ said Executive Director David Cardwell. Plans are underway to celebrate Jim’s tenure at this year’s Annual Gathering at Army-Navy Country Club September 10th -12th

Cardwell added his support for David Leigh saying, “Dave has been instrumental in several key initiatives, most notably facilitating and editing our Course Appreciation Guide, explaining the design genius and contributions of Robert Trent Jones Sr.”

David Leigh was a member of the RTJ-designed Valencia Country Club in California and now resides in Denver, Colorado. He is a national member of Old Waverly Golf Club where he met RTJ Senior in 1993.
